‘He knew I loved him’: Woman reacts after close friend killed in Henrico double homicide

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A community is mourning after the death of two people at a Henrico County business.

Two male victims were found dead with gunshot wounds at T’s Towing on Nine Mile Road in the Highland Springs area on Friday morning, prompting the Henrico County Division of Police to investigate the incident as a double homicide.

“I was told not to get on Facebook. That was the first message I saw. And then as I scroll through myself, I just seen text messages about it,” Henrico County resident Nelly Sims said.

Sims said one of the victims was a close friend of hers.

“This was somebody that I love, that I told I love, so at least I know, he knew I loved him,” said Sims.

At 5:02 a.m. on Friday, March 29, Henrico Police officers responded to the 900 block of Nine Mile Road after receiving calls about shots fired in the area. When officers arrived, they found two male victims dead with gunshot wounds.

Detectives are working to identify both victims and notify the next of kin. They have not confirmed the names of either of the victims as of yet.

For Sims, she is still in disbelief about what happened.

“He’s a great person, a great father, great son,” Sims said. “You are remembered how you live and people celebrate you with happiness and joy and [say] great things about you. That means that you are a great person.”

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Henrico Police at 804-501-5000.
