Woman charged with reckless handling of firearm in Petersburg

PETERSBURG, Va. (WRIC) — A woman has been charged with reckless handling of a firearm after she allegedly fired gunshots in an apartment that traveled downstairs to a neighboring apartment in Petersburg.

A spokesperson for the Petersburg Bureau of Police said 32-year-old Racquel Applewhite has been charged in connection to the incident.

Police responded to the scene at 8:29 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20 to the 100 block of Lieutenants Run Drive after it was reported that shots were fired in an apartment.

There were no injuries, and officers found that the incident had actually happened at 6:30 p.m. Saturday.
