Wilmington Blue Rocks games at Frawley provide food, drink fare

The minor leagues are back-to-basics baseball, players aiming to improve their skills at the game’s challenging fundamentals to earn a promotion to the next level and, eventually, the big leagues.

Dining at minor-league games has the same simple, not-much-fancy approach, as a recent Friday night at Frawley Stadium confirmed.

Those who attended the Wilmington Blue Rocks’ Class A South Atlantic League encounter with the Hickory Crawdads weren’t likely to be wowed by the choices or overwhelmed by the variety the way they might during a Philadelphia Phillies game at Citizens Bank Park.

But there certainly was enough – especially in the alcoholic beverage department – to satisfy anyone’s hunger and thirst, though that also often meant a rather lengthy wait in line.

Prices have also come down this year because, after formerly contracting out for concessions-related products and services, the Blue Rocks have kept them in-house for the first time, said general manager Liz Welch.
