A 42-year-old man from Felton died Sunday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash near Magnolia, pushing Delaware’s roadway fatalities to near-record numbers.

Troopers were called to Irish Hill Road at its intersection with Almond Avenue just after 3:45 p.m. for reports of the crash between a motorcycle and a GMC SUV. There, they found the motorcyclist badly hurt.

Through their investigation, troopers determined the motorcyclist was driving east on Irish Hill Road toward Almond Avenue when the SUV began turning left onto Almond Avenue from the opposite direction.

The SUV turned into the path of the motorcyclist and the front tire of the vehicle hit the SUV’s bumper. The motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet, was ejected, police said.
