Richmond resident might just be the next ‘Sole Survivor,’ cast in 46th season of hit reality program

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Could Virginia’s own Tevin Davis be the next “Sole Survivor?”

A Goochland County native, Davis will star alongside 17 other castaways in the upcoming 46th season of “Survivor.”

Davis, a 24-year-old actor currently living in Richmond, said in his introductory video that his parents struggled to make ends meet when he was younger — speaking about times in his life when he had no electricity or his family faced eviction.

“But, through that, I found who Tevin was,” Davis said.

He said he’d never thought he would go into acting, but that his career journey helped him embrace his true self.

“I got on that stage — all of the struggle that I had been through went away,” Davis said. “I got to laugh and smile and do all the things that made me, ‘me,’ in this one place.”

Davis said he is excited to see what the Survivor experience will help him learn about himself.

“Acting is putting layers on — and then you come and you do this,” Davis said. “And it’s taking all that off and saying, ‘Who are you when I distill you down to your finest level?’ And I’m excited to meet the Tevin I am after this — oh, I can’t wait!”

This season will bring Davis and his fellow castaways to the beautiful Fiji islands. While there, contestants will be divided into three tribes of six.

“The individuals competing on the 46th season are fans from diverse backgrounds and bring fresh perspectives to this new era of the game, with the same ultimate goal: to outwit, outplay and outlast,” said CBS Entertainment in its announcement. “And in the end, only one will remain to claim the title of Sole Survivor and win the $1 million prize.”

The first episode of Survivor season 46 will air on Wednesday, Feb. 28 at 8 p.m. on multiple platforms. For more information on the show and its cast, read the full announcement.
