Richmond Fire crews rescue dog stranded on island along James River


RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The Richmond Fire and Emergency Services Water Rescue Team and Richmond Animal Care and Control jumped into action to save a dog who was stranded on an island along the James River.

According to a Facebook post from Richmond Animal Care and Control (RACC), the rescue took place on Monday, Feb. 19 on an island near Reedy Creek, which goes through Forest Hill Park in Richmond’s Southside.

The Water Rescue Team used their boats to get RACC staff to the island and get the dog back to dry land.
