PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Police are working to identify a burned body found near Kelly Drive. It’s not the first time remains have been found in that same area.
A disturbing discovery near Kelly Drive where a burning body was found Sunday. Now authorities are trying to identify who it is.

So many people are often running or cycling on Kelly Drive near West Girard Avenue.
Right across Kelly Drive, deep in a park, is where police rushed to Sunday after hearing the screams of somebody who found that body.
Crime scene tape tied onto branches and burn marks on the ground are both left behind in a park near Fairmount, where someone yelled for police after finding a person’s charred remains Sunday afternoon.
“You don’t know what to think because it’s horrible,” Lauryn Swavely said.
Swavely and her friends were picnicking on this sun-drenched Monday not far from what was the crime scene.
“It is really unfortunate that that happens,” one woman said.
The area is also often where dogs and their owners can play.
“I was just here yesterday, like I said, enjoying myself. To hear that happened the same place I came back today is very surprising and scary,” Paul Brown said.
Authorities haven’t yet said how long the remains were left in the area. We also don’t know the identity of the victim.
But police say homicide detectives processed the scene, adding the remains were transported to the medical examiner’s office where authorities are working to identify the victim.
We also know this is the third time human remains were found in this general area over the last few years.
There is no word if any of the incidents are connected.
“I certainly don’t expect anything like that to happen anywhere. But we live in crazy times and crazy things unfortunately happen,” a man said.

So far, no arrests have been made.
