STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A Fairfax County man has been arrested after evading Stafford deputies for about three hours, according to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office.
According to a press release, a Stafford deputy tried to stop a Toyota RAV4 for reckless driving at about 6:19 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 17, near the intersection of Warrenton Road and Sanford Drive.
The driver, 41-year-old Brandon Garnett, reportedly pulled into a nearby Shell station — then sped around the station and into the lot of the adjacent Comfort Suites.
Garnett then left his car behind the Comfort Suites and ran off into the night, according to the release. Stafford deputies searched for Garnett using a drone and K-9 units, but Garnett could not be found.
“At 9:41 p.m., Garnett — wet, muddy, tired and scratched up from his late night run — attempted to rent a room at the nearby Super 8,” said the office in its release. “He was locked up faster than the engine of a 1971 Ford Pinto with no oil.”
Garnett was charged with eluding, obstruction, reckless driving, aggressive driving, drinking while driving and driving with a revoked license, according to the release.
“Instead of the Super 8, Garnett was provided a room at the Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond,” the office said.
