Phillies home opener vs. Reds on Thursday postponed due to weather forecast

Perhaps the forecasted inclement weather for Thursday will end up doing the Phillies a favor.

That’s because they were granted an unexpected off day as their home opener scheduled for Thursday afternoon will be pushed back to Friday. This came after a 1-5 road trip to start the season. That included a 4-2 loss to the New York Yankees on Wednesday.

The home opener against the Cincinnati Reds has been postponed and rescheduled for Friday at 3:05 p.m. All gates will open at 12:35 p.m.

“After consultation with Major League Baseball, and the uncertain forecast for (Thursday) between 3 and 7 p.m., we have decided to move our home opener with the Reds to Friday,” Phillies executive vice president David Buck said in a statement.

Tickets and parking passes for Thursday’s game will be valid on Friday, the team added. Pregame festivities will begin at 2:15 p.m.
