Now, an Oklahoma man is trying to give first responders those extra seconds.”This thing is going to save some lives,” said Jonathan Harrison, CEO of Locator 911.Harrison was a paramedic for 25 years and responded to countless calls where it was difficult to find the home of someone in need, even with GPS.”An extra 2-3 minutes that it takes for you to get help can make a difference whether you walk out of that house or not,” Harrison said.That is why he invented the Locator 911. The smart LED light bulb will strobe when someone calls 911 on the mobile app.His inspiration came from a call he and his team could get to quick enough.”In the fall of 2009, I had to respond to a 2-year-old in cardiac arrest. We had entered the address into the GPS, we counted down the addresses on the mailboxes, you do all the things you know to. Even with all that we couldn’t find the driveway or mailbox we were looking for,” Harrison said.Frantically, the paramedics jumped out of the ambulance and ran to different homes in the neighborhood. They tried to find the toddler but couldn’t get there in time.”I can’t say that the outcome would have been different because only God knows that, but what I can tell you with 100% certainty is that if this product had been available in the fall of 2009 at 2:30 a.m. on that rural road, we would have had an additional four minutes to work on that child,” Harrison said.
