Newark crash near I-95 kills Wilmington woman

Two people were hospitalized and a third person died after a single-vehicle crash on I-95 near Newark on Saturday night, Delaware State Police said. The crash remains under investigation; however, police said that charges against the driver are possible pending the conclusion of their investigation.

According to police, a 24-year-old man from Wilmington, along with two passengers — a 30-year-old woman from Wilmington and a 23-year-old woman — was headed north on I-95, south of the service plaza, in a 2014 white Dodge Journey. For an unknown reason, the Dodge drove off the right shoulder of the road and overturned.

The 24-year-old driver and the 23-year-old woman were taken by ambulance to an area hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
