Man riding Harley Davidson motorcycle dies after crash on I-64 West in Goochland County

GOOCHLAND COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A man riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle died following a crash that occurred on Interstate 64 West in Goochland County.

At 12:41 a.m. on Friday, March 8, Virginia State Police troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash on I-64 West, two miles east of Shallow Well Road in Goochland County that resulted in a death.

Police said a 2024 Kia Forte, driven by a 20-year old man from Louisa County, rear-ended a 2013 Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by 49-year-old Shawn Michael Jones, from the Mechanicsville area of Hanover County.

The motorcycle reportedly lost control and hit a guardrail.

The Kia then lost control, rolled onto its side, and struck the guardrail on the left shoulder.

Jones died due to injuries at the scene, according to police. He was wearing a helmet.

Police said the driver of the Kia had non-life threatening injuries.

The crash remains under investigation by Virginia State Police.
