Man has life-threatening injuries after shooting in Hopewell, 20-year-old arrested


HOPEWELL, Va. (WRIC) — One man is in custody and another is in the hospital with life-threatening injuries after a shooting on Nottingham Court in Hopewell.

According to the Hopewell City Police Department, officers responded to the 500 block of Nottingham Court after it was reported that a man had been shot at around 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 7.

Officers arrived at the scene and found a man who had been shot in his torso. The man was taken to TriCities Hospital and was later flown to VCU Medical Center in Richmond. His injuries are considered life-threatening.

20-year-old Tarique Avion Granderson of Dinwiddie County was arrested and charged with felony malicious wounding and using a firearm while committing a felony. He is being held without bond.
