Gilpin Court homicide victim identified as Richmond man


RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Richmond Police Department detectives have identified the victim of the fatal shooting last night on West Federal Street in Gilpin Court in Richmond’s Northside.

According to Richmond Police, on Thursday, Jan. 25 at around 7:15 p.m., officers responded to a report of shots fired on the 100 block of West Federal Street in Gilpin Court.

When the officers arrived on the scene, they found 43-year-old James Champion IV of Richmond down in the stairwell of a building. He was found with a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead on the scene.
