Fatal crash near Hartly on Friday being investigated by State Police



An unidentified man was killed Friday night when his SUV drove off Bryants Corner Road near Hartly and struck a wooden post.

Delaware State Police said the 2000 Isuzu Rodeo was speeding on Bryants Corner Road south of Pine Tree Road on March 10, 2023, at approximately 8:53 p.m., when the driver drove off a curve in the road and struck the wooden post next to a private driveway. The impact spun the car back onto Bryants Corner Road where it came to rest partially off the road.

Police closed the roadway for almost three hours while they investigated. They said the driver, who has not been identified, was not wearing his seatbelt. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash. The incident remains under investigation and troopers are asking witnesses to contact Master Corporal W. Booth at 302-698-8451.
