Crash on I-95 causes significant delays, 4.5-mile backup in Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A vehicle crash on Interstate 95 caused significant delays for Thursday morning commuters in Richmond.

The crash was first reported around 7 a.m. and was located on I-95 South near the Franklin Street exit.

All southbound lanes were closed initially but around 8 a.m. traffic was opened again in the south right lane. The Franklin exit ramp remained closed. At one point, there was a 4.5-mile-long backup.

Shortly before 9 a.m., the scene was cleared and all lanes were reopened.
