The Radio City Rockettes “Christmas Spectacular” has been a holiday season tradition for decades and you may not know that tradition currently includes a pair of Cincinnati sisters.Cincinnati sisters Danielle and Jordan Betscher may not be twins but they do have a lot in common. Danielle Betscher has been a part of the “Christmas Spectacular” for eight years and Jordan Betscher has been for five. “I first saw the Christmas Spectacular in Nashville, actually at 13, I immediately said, ‘Rockettes. That’s it. That’s what I want to do,'” Danielle Betscher said.”I actually saw Danielle in her very first show when she was just 18 years old. And that’s when I found out that I wanted to be a Rockette. It was because of her. She’s my inspiration always,” said Jordan Betscher.Now the sisters are among 80 dancers who perform in the iconic high-kicking group.”I don’t think it even crossed my mind that my sister could be on stage with me. I was just, you know, 18 years old, fresh, getting started in the dance world and with the Rockettes. And when she said, ‘Oh, I think I want to do that,’ I was so excited. So actually having her join the line was a really special moment, and getting to share this experience with her,” Danielle Betscher said.The girls are split into two teams of 40 — blue and gold.”I’m in the morning, I’m in the blue cast. And then she’s in the evening in the gold cast,” Jordan Betscher said.Very rarely do they get to perform together but when they do the sisters say they try to catch each others’ eyes or smile at each other.They spent the off-season working hard to prepare for the 2021 shows, especially after the pandemic canceled the 2020 season.”It’s definitely a challenging process. We work really, really hard to make the show as beautiful as possible for our audiences to come and just be thrilled with Christmas joy,” said Danielle Betscher.Both girls performed with the Cincinnati Ballet before heading to the Big Apple.
