PETERSBURG, Va. (WRIC) — A 25-year-old man has been arrested and charged after police say he shot an unidentified female victim in Petersburg over the weekend.
According to the Petersburg Bureau of Police, officers responded to the 1700 block of Johnson Road at around 8:01 p.m. on Saturday, March 16 for a report of a person shot.
At the scene, the officers found a female victim suffering from a gunshot wound. She was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police say the suspect, 25-year-old Sergey Peterson, stayed at the scene and was arrested without incident. He was been charged with reckless handling of a firearm and discharging a firearm.
