A 37-year-old man was shot and killed Sunday in Wyoming’s first homicide in nearly nine years.
Delaware State Police and officers from the Wyoming and Camden police departments responded to the 100 block of South Caesar Rodney Avenue about 3 a.m. for a shooting incident.
There, they found the man lying directly in front of a residence, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds, according to Delaware State Police Senior Cpl. Jason Hatchell.
The victim was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police said they will publicly identify him after his family is notified.
Wyoming, a Kent County town of about 1,500 people, has a three-officer police department, according to Chief Martin Willey. Their last homicide case was the 2013 murder-suicide of Jay and Janice Wyatt.
Police provided no suspect information for Sunday’s incident. The state police homicide unit is investigating.
Anyone with information related to this case is asked to contact Detective Csapo at 302-741-2729. Information can be provided anonymously by calling Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333 or visiting their website.
