‘I just can’t believe this is still going on 16 years later,’ she told WISN 12 News in an exclusive interview
Timothy Olson, known as the suspected dating app “predator,” is in jail right now on identity theft charges and has a scamming history that dates back to 2006. “I was a smart person. I had a good job. I was totally scammed by him,” a victim, who did not want to be identified, told WISN 12 News exclusively Thursday. “I thought I finally put that all behind me, and then his face showed up on the news three weeks ago.”Right now, Olson is accused of drugging and stealing from women in Racine County and kidnapping a 79-year-old woman in Franklin. He’s also a person of interest in the death of Kim Mikulance. She collapsed at a South Milwaukee bar Nov. 17 while with Olson. She later died. Police arrested Olson Tuesday after searching for him for weeks. “My heart just sunk. My hands started shaking. I started crying. I called my husband at work. I’m like, ‘you’re never going to believe this. He’s out again,'” she said. This victim said back in 2006, she met Olson on Match.com, but he used a different name. She said her background check on that name turned up nothing suspicious. “We ended up meeting and dated for a while. He took me to his mom’s house. He had me talk to his son on the phone. I had no reason to believe that he wasn’t who he said he was. And then a couple weeks later, he stole my car. He stole my phone, and he stole money,” the woman said. “I was hysterical, and I was so humiliated. I was embarrassed. I just felt so victimized.”Out of thousands of dollars, she went to the police, and the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office charged Olson with theft. He was eventually convicted. She said Olson spent two years in prison, although he was sentenced to six. “That’s the part that scares me. That’s he’s just going to keep getting out and keep doing this,” she said. Currently, Olson faces five counts of identity theft out of Racine County. More charges are expected in Milwaukee County, but the district attorney’s office does not have a timeline on those charges. Olson denies all of the allegations currently against him.
