HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A woman is in the hospital after police say she was shot while driving in eastern Henrico — in an incident which is believed to be related to road rage.
According to Virginia State Police, in the early evening of Wednesday, Aug. 16, a 33-year-old Chesterfield County woman was driving on Interstate 95 when another driver began tailgating her. She exited into Interstate 64 and then onto the Nine Mile Road exit, where she pulled over to allow the driver to pass.
The driver then began shooting at the woman, who was hit twice. She was taken to the hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening, according to police.
No suspects are in custody at this time and police have not released a description of the suspected vehicle.
Virginia State Police are investigating the incident. Traffic on Nine Mile Road was affected by the investigation, but the road has since reopened.
