A 42-year-old woman was killed while trying to cross a roadway in Middletown Monday morning.
The incident occurred as the woman, who has not been identified, tried to cross Middletown Odessa Road (Route 299) east of Gloucester Boulevard about 6:15 a.m., New Castle County Police Master Cpl. Michel Eckerd said.
As she crossed the roadway near a DART bus stop, the woman was struck by a Kia Sorento.
“The pedestrian was then transported by Odessa Fire Company to a local hospital where she succumbed to her injuries,” Eckerd said in a press release.
The investigation is ongoing.
