The Delaware State Police have launched a homicide investigation after a 57-year-old woman was found dead inside her Bridegville home Friday morning.
Officials said police officers from the Bridgeville Police Department responded to Champions Drive in Heritage Shores just after 9 a.m. Friday to check on the woman, who was living there. Family members were concerned about the woman after failed attempts to contact her, according to police.
When officers entered the home, they found the woman dead and her car missing — a 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLS with Delaware registration “YCANTI,” according to a news release.
Police say the death “appeared” to be a homicide. The Delaware State Police Homicide Unit took over the case at the request of the Bridgeville Police Department, the news release states.
The woman’s name was being withheld pending notification of family.
Detectives are searching for the woman’s car, and no further information about what led to her death was released.
