A 60-year-old woman died when the car she was riding in veered off the road and crashed near New Castle early Wednesday, Delaware State Police said.
Police have not identified the Seaford-area woman pending family notification.
The incident began shortly after 2 a.m. when a 65-year-old Seaford man was driving a 2017 Honda Pilot southbound on Route 13 approaching Basin Road, said Senior Cpl. Jason Hatchell, a police spokesman.

The driver, who was hauling a U-Haul trailer, fell asleep at the wheel and drifted onto the right shoulder, where the front tire struck a raised curb in the 500 block of North DuPont Highway (Route 13), Hatchell said.
The Honda then rotated until the passenger side struck a large steel support for an overhead roadway sign, then rolled onto its roof. The crossover-SUV ended up partially within the right shoulder and right travel lane.
The man and woman were taken to an area hospital where he was admitted with non-life-threatening injuries. The woman, however, died from her injuries at the hospital.
Police said both were wearing their seatbelts.
