A 47-year-old Wilmington man was killed after a car struck him on Friday evening, according to Delaware State Police.
Police said the man entered the pathway of an Acura ILX traveling westbound on Kirkwood Highway past Farrand Drive at about 7:59 p.m. Friday while attempting to walk southbound.
The man was pronounced dead when he was taken to a local hospital. The man’s name is being withheld pending further investigation and next-of-kin notifications.
The roadway was closed for about three hours, according to police.
