After spending a week on a luxurious Italian vacation in season two of the hit HBO show “The White Lotus,” Aubrey Plaza is set to pack her bags this December and ditch Hollywood for Delaware.
The Wilmington native and Ursuline Academy alumna is set to return home on Thursday for an interactive book reading and signing of her newly released children’s book, “The Return of the Christmas Witch.”
The event will be held at Rockwood Museum in Wilmington and begins at 10 a.m. Those interested in attending can register for the event at newcastlede.gov/Aubrey.
Plaza co-wrote the book with longtime creative partner and fellow Delawarean Dan Murphy, and it’s a sequel to their debut “The Legend of the Christmas Witch,” which came out last November.
The first book follows Santa Claus’s twin sister, Kristtörn, as she sets off to find her long-lost brother. Along the way, she realizes she is fearful of her powers and encounters a few mishaps that leave the fate of Christmas hanging in the balance.
According to a 2021 interview with the co-authors, the book focuses on the true meaning of Christmas and “celebrating nature and earth with your loved ones,” especially during the winter months.

How to get tickets to see Aubrey Plaza
If you plan on attending the event, be sure to get your tickets fast as quantities are limited and in high demand.
Plaza’s book event at the Brandywine Hundred Library last year sold out quickly, and considering our readers voted her the most famous Delawarean in a 2020 poll, the Golden Globe-nominated actress definitely has a lot of First State fans.
If you’re not familiar with her work, Plaza has starred in films such as “Ingrid Goes West,” “Emily the Criminal” on Netflix and has an upcoming role opposite Hugh Grant and Jason Statham in “Operation Fortune: Rue De Guerre” in 2023.
The actress was a long-time face on the small screen in the Emmy-nominated show “Parks and Recreation” and even stars in a new Delaware-centric show on FXX released last summer called “Little Demon.”
The adult cartoon includes plenty of wacky First State references and is sure to entertain any Delawarean.

Plaza currently holds a Golden Globe nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series, Limited Series, or Motion Picture Made for Television for her role in the latest season of “The White Lotus.” The show has been met with high praise since its premiere last year, and this year’s awards circuit is filled with nods to season two.
Murphy, who will also be at the Dec. 22 event, has been working with Plaza for more than 16 years and has directed several short films. The pair founded Evil Hag Productions in 2016 and have a slew of documentary and narrative projects on the agenda.
