Watch out for these lane closures in Richmond’s Southside

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Drivers in Richmond’s Southside are asked to be mindful of two lane closures taking place for infrastructure projects.

Huguenot Road and Cherokee Road

Starting Monday, Jan. 22 until Friday, Feb. 2, there will be a lane closure from 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the intersection of Huguenot Road and Cherokee Road.

The right turning lane on each approach of Cherokee Road will be closed temporarily. In addition, the right lanes that alternate at each approach of Huguenot Road will be closed temporarily.

According to the City of Richmond Department of Public Works, the closure is taking place due to a traffic signal upgrade.

Broad Rock Boulevard and Walmsley Boulevard

There will also be a lane closure from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the intersection of Broad Rock Boulevard and Walmsley Boulevard that will start Monday, Jan. 29 until Thursday, Feb. 1.

In addition, the lane near the curb, the sidewalk and the median lane will be closed temporarily for the duration of the project.

Work crews will be repairing sections of the concrete sidewalk, installing pedestrian signal equipment and improving the median in the area.
