WATCH: One person dead after alleged barricade situation, house fire in Chesterfield County


CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — One person is dead after an alleged barricade situation that led to a house fire Sunday afternoon.

On Sunday, March 24 at around 2:30 p.m., Chesterfield County Fire and EMS crews were called to a house located on Walnut Wood Drive for the report of a fire.

According to Chesterfield’s Chief Deputy Fire Marshal, while crews were on their way to Walnut Wood Drive, they received a report that there was a police issue taking place at the house.

8News has received information that the incident could be a possible barricade situation, however officials have not confirmed this as they continue to investigate.

Crews were able to put out the fire in less than an hour. According to officials, a family of three were inside of the home, with one person reported to have died from the incident.

A joint investigation is being conducted by the Chesterfield County Police Department and the Chesterfield Fire Department to determine the cause of the fire.

The identity of the person who died from this incident will be withheld until officials notify the next of kin.
