A lottery ticket gifted from a father to his son as a graduation present turned out to be worth more than either of them anticipated.
Lance Wall, an 18-year-old from Washougal, Washington, had just graduated from high school. To celebrate the occasion, his father bought a Six Figures Scratch ticket at the 7 Market in Camas, Washington and scratched the ticket.
To their surprise, Wall’s gifted ticket had won $50,000.
According to Washington’s Lottery, there was a 1-in-913,000 odds of winning the $50,000 prize from the ticket. Scratch tickets from Washington’s Lottery are priced between $1 and $30, with varying prize amounts. The number of prizes available in a game depends on the number of tickets printed, tested, distributed, sold and the number of prizes claimed.
