Delaware has been graced by warm weather for the past couple of weeks, and this week may bring summerlike temperatures. But a winter wonderland is right on the other side of all that balmy sunshine.
Local temperatures have hovered between the low 50s and high 60s in recent weeks much of the time, but a bad case of winter whiplash is on its way to the state now that both heat and snow are in the forecast.
Tuesday will hover around 60 degrees with a 50% chance of precipitation. Skies will be cloudy and 25 mph winds are possible. The low will be around 35 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

Wednesday will see a high around 46 degrees with a low around 40 degrees and cloudy skies. A slight chance of rain and snow is expected before 10 a.m. Rain will continue at night around 1 a.m.
On Thursday, meanwhile, a taste of summer is expected as the anticipated high nears 70 degrees and skies are mostly sunny. By nightfall, skies will be mostly clear with a low temperature of 45 degrees. Mild winds will be present.
Friday will also be nice for getting outdoors, sunny with a high near 50 degrees. Mild winds will be present. But by Friday night, skies will be partly cloudy and temperatures dip significantly to 26 degrees as they caution the day of snow ahead.
Saturday is expected to bring a high of around 43 degrees with mostly cloudy skies. A 60% chance of rain and snow is predicted. By nightfall, temperatures will hover around 35 degrees with a 40% chance of rain.
By Sunday, snow will be a thing of the past as partly sunny skies make way for temperatures near 57 degrees. It will be breezy with a low chance of precipitation.
