RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A bill which would increase Virginia’s minimum wage twice over the course of the next two years has passed the Virginia House of Delegates.
On Friday, Feb. 2, a bill authored by Del. Jeion Ward (D-Hampton) that would raise the current minimum wage in Virginia was passed by the House of Delegates by a vote of 51-49.
The bill would increase the current minimum wage of $12/hour to $13.50/hour in 2025, and then to $15/hour in 2026.
The vote comes after the bill was passed through the House Labor and Commerce Committee on Jan. 18.
