Video: Multiple squad cars chase man on electric scooter


A video that’s gotten over 400,000 views on social media shows police chasing after a man on an electric scooter this week. Christine Brocklehurst shared the video with WISN 12 News. West Allis Police Department confirmed the video shows officers on Tuesday morning chasing after the scooter near 81st and Orchard streets. In the video, at least four squad cars are following the scooter with their lights and sirens on. The man on the scooter yells something at the person recording from the sidewalk. Police said it started Tuesday at 9:50 a.m., near 87th Street and West National Avenue, when a sergeant saw the man on the scooter going over 40 mph.Police said the sergeant tried stopping the scooter, but the man did not stop. According to police, the scooter continued fleeing north on 89th Street and onto the railroad tracks, then fled eastbound, eventually making its way back onto the road. West Allis PD said officers continued chasing the scooter and watched as it ran multiple stop signs, and traveled 25 to 35 miles per hour on the sidewalk, trying to elude police. Police said they arrested the scooter operator, a 21-year-old Milwaukee man, near 77th Street and Greenfield Avenue for eluding and resisting an officer. The Milwaukee County District Attorney’s office will review the case for criminal charges.
