Le Cavalier at Hotel du Pont has been named a top hotel restaurant in the country.
The Wilmington-based modern French brassiere ranks No. 8 out of 10 winners for the Best Hotel Restaurant in the 2023 USA Today 10Best Readers’ Choice travel awards. Each hotel restaurant was voted on by readers.
Hotel du Pont celebrates its 110th anniversary this year and sits among other coveted hotel restaurants awarded with this honor, including:
- Hartley Kitchen at Kimpton Shane Hotel in Atlanta, at No. 10, known for Southern soul food.
- Jalao NYC at Radio Hotel in New York City, at No. 9, offering modern Latin cuisine amidst Dominican furniture, murals and Carnival masks.
- Addison at Fairmont Grand del Mar in San Diego, at No. 7, showcasing California gastronomy through regional ingredients in a 10-course tasting menu, paired with selected vintage and rare wines.
- Lemaire at The Jefferson Hotel in Richmond, Virginia, at No. 6, fixing up New American and classic regional dishes with seasonal ingredients from local farms.
- Woods Restaurant at Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island, Michigan, at No. 5, which can be visited from the hotel by horse and carriage and offers a Bavarian menu.
- The Stonehouse Restaurant at San Ysidro Ranch in Santa Barbara, California, at No. 4, offering ocean-view terrace seating, a wood-burning fireplace.
- Kuro at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City in Atlantic City, at No. 3, featuring contemporary Japanese dishes made from ingredients found locally and imported from Japan, along with an assortment of Japanese spirits.
- Mohonk Mountain House’s Main Dining Room in New Paltz, New York, at No. 2, where guests can enjoy views of the Catskill Mountains while enjoying farm-to-table cuisine through breakfast and lunch buffets or a three-course fine dining dinner.
- Chez Philippe at The Peabody Memphis in Memphis, Tennessee, at No. 1, serving French-inspired fine dining with a seven-course menu and five-course wining pairing.
