US presidential polls 2024: Joe Biden, Donald Trump win Louisiana’s presidential primary

US President Joe Biden and former president Donald Trump emerged victorious at Louisiana’s presidential primary on Saturday (Mar 23), collecting more delegates after they already clinched their party nominations. None of the races were in suspense, as Biden and Trump have already beaten their major competitors, a report by the news agency Associated Press said.

The primary in Louisiana came almost four years after the state was the first to postpone its primaries due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Biden won 132,430 votes in the primary followed by Democrats Marianne Williamson at 7,400 votes and Dean Phillips at 4,079.

Trump, meanwhile, won 165,182 followed by Republicans Nikki Haley at 12,137 votes and Ron DeSantis at 2,863 votes.

For Biden, some liberals are registering their anger with the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas. When it comes to Trump, the former president is facing dissent from people worried about his legal cases.
