UPDATE: Both situations have been resolved. All lanes are open and the scene is clear.
HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Multiple lanes were closed on Interstate 95 in Henrico County due to a heavy, multi-department police presence.
According to the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), police were at the scene at about 4 p.m., located just north of the highway’s interchange with E. Parham Road.
The northbound left lane and center lane were closed, as well as both shoulders, at the time of reporting, causing significant backups in the area.
A spokesperson with the Henrico County Police Division told 8News that both Henrico and Virginia State Police were at the scene investigating two separate, unrelated incidents.
A spokesperson with Virginia State Police said its officers responded regarding an adult man who was having a mental health crisis on the highway. The man has been taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. No further details are available at the time of reporting.
