Two suspects on the run after multi-county police chase ends in Hanover County crash

HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A car crashed into the woods on the side of Interstate 95 Tuesday night after a police chase that was initiated in Henrico County.

According to the Hanover Sheriff’s Office, the chase began in Henrico County and ended in a crash on I-95 in the Sliding Hill area.

A spokesperson with the Henrico County Police Division said officers found a stolen vehicle near Craig Avenue and Elba Street shortly after 5 p.m. When officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop, the vehicle drove away. Police initiated a pursuit which lasted until the officers lost sight of the vehicle.

After suspects allegedly abandoned the stolen vehicle and ran away, one was taken into custody, the sheriff’s office said. Two suspects have not yet been found, as of about 7:40 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12.

“Due to the incoming storm, the search for the other occupant(s) has been suspended,” a spokesperson with the Henrico County Police Division said.

According to authorities, the suspect who was taken into custody was not injured.
