Two buildings damaged in commercial fire in Powhatan, firefighters prevented further spread

POWHATAN COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A commercial building fire damaged two structures in Powhatan County on Wednesday, with firefighters preventing further spread just in time.

According to Powhatan County Fire and Rescue, several companies were notified of a commercial fire in the 5500 block of Anderson Highway around 8:45 p.m. on March 13.

Firefighters arrived at the scene to find one commercial building on fire. Units soon realized another building located less than three feet away was at risk of damage if the flames continued to spread.

According to the department, firefighters’ efforts to quickly put out the flames prevented significant damage to the second building.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is currently unknown and remains under investigation.
