Tractor-trailer fell on its side in Hanover, road shut down for hours as a result


HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A stretch of W Patrick Henry Highway in Hanover County was shut down for several hours after a tractor-trailer overturned, falling onto its side and injuring its driver.

Deputies with the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office, as well as first responders with Hanover Fire-EMS, responded to W Patrick Henry Road about 1000 yards west of Scotchtown Road for report of a single-vehicle crash involving a tractor-trailer at about 8 a.m. on Sunday, March 31.

According to the office, the tractor-trailer ran off the side of the road, turning onto its side as it did so. The driver reported minor injuries and is receiving treatment.

As a result of this crash, the stretch of W Patrick Henry Road between Scotchtown Road and Mountain Road was completely closed in both directions for hours. According to the office, the road was reopened at about 11:45 p.m. Sunday.

The cause of the crash is still unknown as the crash remains under investigation.
