CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A tractor-trailer crash on Route 288 caused significant delays for drivers in Chesterfield County on Friday, Feb. 2.
According to Virginia State Police, the crash occurred around 11:30 a.m. on Route 288 near the Midlothian Turnpike exit.
State troopers said a tractor-trailer and an SUV collided in the southbound lanes, causing a power line to also be hit. The power lines then sparked a fire in the grass alongside the road.
A spokesperson with Chesterfield Fire & EMS said the brush fire was two acres in size but has since been extinguished.
“One vehicle did become entangled with those downed power lines with one person inside,” the fire department spokesperson said. “That person did require assistance getting out but was not injured.”
There were reportedly no vehicles on fire and no injuries, according to police.
At one point, VDOT reported all lanes had been closed as crews worked to clear the scene. Shortly before 2:30 p.m., the scene was reportedly cleared and all lanes had been reopened.
