To-go cocktails bill signed into law by Governor Youngkin

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Bottoms up! Governor Glenn Youngkin has signed a bill into law that will make to-go cocktails permanent.

The law permits businesses that are licensed by the Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority (ABC) to sell mixed alcoholic beverages for “off-premises consumption.”

Initially, the temporary provision arose during the pandemic, which allowed for Virginia restaurants, distillers and wineries to sell cocktails to go, but has now been made permanent.

According to the Distilled Spirits Council of the United States, Virginia joins 23 other states and the District of Columbia that have passed laws to permanently allow cocktails to-go.
