CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Chesterfield County firefighters responded to a two-story house fire that caused significant damage Friday morning.
Crews with Chesterfield Fire and EMS were called to the 5600 block of Drayton Landing Court for a reported two-alarm house fire shortly before 7 a.m.
According to authorities, three people inside managed to escape the house before crews responded at the scene. They have all been hospitalized — two people had smoke inhalation injuries and one person had burn injuries.
A significant portion of the house appears to have collapsed as a result of the fire. Crews said the smoke was visible from Iron Bridge Road when the house was fully engulfed.
The fire was marked under control around 8 a.m. Authorities said crews are expected to remain at the scene for most of the day.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
