An 18-year-old woman died Wednesday morning after the car she was in collided with a tractor-trailer on South DuPont Highway in Harrington, according to Delaware State Police.
Around 10:30 a.m., a tractor-trailer was driving northbound on Route 13 on South DuPont Highway and stopped in the left lane to make a turn onto Tower Hill road, according to police. At the same time, a Volkswagen Jetta was traveling southbound in the left lane approaching the intersection, police said.
The truck driver failed to remain stopped and continued making a left turn across the southbound lanes resulting in the Jetta colliding with the trailer, according to police.
A woman seated in the passenger seat of the Jetta was severely injured during the crash and pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The Millsboro woman’s identification is pending notification to next of kin.
According to police, an 18-year-old man from Dover was driving the Jetta. He was flown to an area hospital for unknown injuries, police said.

The driver of the tractor-trailer was a 65-year-old Townsend man, according to police. He was not injured in the collision, they said.
The crash closed the roadway for approximately four hours. It remains under investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact Sgt. John Wheatley by calling 302-698-8518.
