At around 10:30 p.m., VCU reported that the situation had been resolved on West Clay Street and to resume normal activity.
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — One suspect is on the loose after a deadly shooting took place near Virginia Commonwealth University’s (VCU) campus, according to an alert sent by the university.
On Sunday Feb. 25 at around 7 p.m., officers from VCU and the Richmond Police Department responded to the 300 block of West Clay Street for the report of gunfire resulting in an unidentified male being shot during an altercation.
According to an alert by VCU, the victim was transported to a local hospital where they later died from their injuries. A male suspect was immediately detained.
It was later determined there is possibly a second unidentified suspect in the shooting, according to VCU police.
The second suspect is described as a 30-year-old black female, wearing a grey shirt, black leggings, black socks and black shoes. They were last seen leaving the area in an unknown direction of travel driving a silver minivan. The license plate is not known.
VCU police advised those to avoid the area as officers continued to investigate the scene.
