The Supreme Court on Tuesday allowed a controversial Texas immigration law to go into effect while other legal challenges play out in lower courts. The law allows local Texas law enforcement to arrest people suspected of crossing the border illegally, and judges to prosecute them – actions that were previously understood to be under the jurisdiction of the federal government.
