An Indianola high school choir director is striking a chord with his students using energetic and passionate TikTok videos, some of which have gone viral in recent days. Myles Finn’s latest social media posts surrounding a much-anticipated musical reveal have racked up tens of millions of views this past week. In a game show-like process of elimination, Finn narrowed down the options. Would students sing ABBA hits in the musical “Mamma Mia!” or perform in a Stephen Sondheim classic, “Into the Woods?” Each video in the three-part thread showed students hanging on the edge of their seats. Finn told KCCI that he started posting on TikTok to show the daily life of a high school choir teacher. He said he loves sharing his passion with people around the world, especially at a time when educators are leaving the profession for a variety of reasons. “I would like to show that teaching can be fun,” Finn said. “If you’re passionate about it, kids will bend over backwards for you. Kids will do anything you ask as long as you have fun with what you’re doing.”Spoiler alert: Indianola students will be performing in “The Addams Family,” showcasing America’s ghoulish cartoon characters.
