If you are looking to lower your heartbeat and spend some time relaxing, you may not need a spa. Mary’s Land Farm in Clarksville offers special events, and its newest offer is cow cuddling, which has become so popular, they sold out for the month of May within 36 hours.
During a recent trip to the free-range farm, the geese were out for their morning walk while sheep grazed in the field and baby sheep look for attention. But the cows are where all the action is these days.
There are 3-month-old Jersey calves named after the Rice Krispies treats mascots — Snap, Crackle and Pop — who are not only curious, but extremely lovable.
“They want to snuggle right in, just like babies,” said Cori Wilson, with Mary’s Land Farm.
Wilson, who started the cow-cuddling program in the spring, was shocked by the demand.
“We were like, ‘OK, let’s put this up on Mary’s Land Farm,’ and it sold out immediately, and I was just thrilled,” Wilson said.
Wilson said she has always known the therapeutic benefits of being around cows and said she’s glad to share it with others.
“The cows actually have a slower heartbeats, and when we’re with them, our heartbeats tend to match theirs, and we just release endorphins and oxytocin, and they’re just a pleasure to be around,” Wilson said.
