In an effort to increase diversity in the Delaware legal community, a state Supreme Court committee made recommendations including potentially lowering the score needed to pass the Delaware Bar and provide an alternative to the exam in the form of a Delaware Scholars Program.
The Delaware Bar is generally considered to be one the most exclusive in the nation with a 50% passage rate, according to the report. And these proposals to change the gateway to practicing law in the state have drawn mixed responses from the state’s legal community after the idea was floated by the Bench and Bar Diversity Committee.
