snow in much of Maryland, Virginia, Delaware

Delmarva’s first snow of 2022 is coming Sunday night, according to weather forecasters, which could impact the Monday morning commute.

The amount of snow predicted varies, and the National Weather Service says there are likely to be further changes, potentially significant, to their forecast.

But as of 9 a.m. Sunday, they’re calling for 3-6 inches of snow throughout the Delmarva Peninsula, with lower amounts likely on the coast and in Virginia. There’s potential for higher amounts (up to 8 inches) in central and western Sussex County, according to the National Weather Service.

Other forecasting agencies are calling for up to a foot of snow in central Delmarva, in parts of Sussex, Wicomico and Dorchester counties.

Multiple counties, including Sussex and Kent in Delaware and Wicomico, inland Worcester, Somerset and Dorchester counties in Maryland are under a winter storm watch from the National Weather Service. Sussex and Kent are also under a coastal flood watch.
