“Wheel of Fortune’s” Teen Week kicked off earlier this week, and tonight, a Delawarean will take the stage to compete.
The weeklong special features teenagers battling it out to solve hangman-style puzzles for their chance to win new cars, once-in-a-lifetime vacations and cash prizes.
Kaden Nye, a homeschooled eighth grader from Smyrna, will fulfill a lifelong dream when he goes on-air during tonight’s special.
Kaden has always been a fan of the show and watches every night with his parents. He plans to be Pat Sajak, the host of “Wheel of Fortune” since 1981, for Halloween and is excited to meet him in person, according to a spokesperson for the show.
Kaden’s strategy during the game is to take advantage of the letterboard, buy vowels and be “calm as a cucumber,” he said.
If he wins, Kaden wants to move his grandmother out of her current house and buy her a nicer one to live more comfortably, the show’s representative said.

The odds of winning ‘Wheel of Fortune’
In a behind-the-scenes clip released last week, Maggie Sajak, a country music singer and daughter of Pat Sajak, asks some of the contestants who they think will be the best puzzle-solver on their episode.
When one contestant definitively says Kaden will reign supreme, Maggie asks him what he thinks about that statement.
His response? “He’s right.”

To see if Kaden Nye comes out on top and brings a win home for Delaware, you can catch him in action tonight on 6 ABC WVPI at 7:30. More Teen Week episodes will air on Thursday and Friday.
How can I be on ‘Wheel of Fortune’?
If you would like to be on “Wheel of Fortune,” applications can be submitted online at wheeloffortune.com/join/be-a-contestant for a chance to be invited to a virtual audition. From there, potential contestants can show off their puzzle-solving skills for a chance at being selected for the show.
If selected, each contestant goes home with a minimum of $1,000.
