A Deltona teen has been arrested, accused of stealing from her grandparents before running away. According to a release from the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office, deputies began investigating Friday when the girl’s grandparents noticed their safe had been opened and $15,640 was missing. The grandparents told officials the girl has a history of theft, drug use and running away from home. Deputies found the girl Saturday at a Deltona gas station. She admitted to taking the money and disclosed that she gave $6,000 to her friend’s mother. Deputies tracked down 39-year-old Anna Marie Sikora, of Deltona, who admitted she accepted thousands from the girl, despite knowing the money was stolen. “Deputies explained to Sikora that it’s unusual for an adult to accept thousands of dollars from a 15-year-old child who is a habitual runaway and has no job, and charged her with grand theft,” officials wrote in a release. The 15-year-old was charged with burglary and grand theft.
